More Relays

Garmin Link
6.01 miles
8:25 pace

Another 6-miler with Doug this morning. On the way down to the path, we had to negotiate more street traffic than yesterday as people converged on Franklin Field for the Relays. The big attraction today is Usain Bolt, "world's fastest man", who will be running a leg of the 4X100 relays for Jamaica.

Lots of little groups of runners in matching warmups or singlets jogging on the rec path and around the neighborhood. We saw Georgetown, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Princeton among others.

Doug is having some allergy trouble, and during the second mile said he wanted to do no more than our usual six today. We had started slow - I'm feeling a bit stiff - but increased speed steadily, doing the last two miles both under 8:00. Doug wasn't feeling great, but he was the one pushing the pace on the way back.

Doug is fun to run with. On the way down he ran on the edge of the sidewalk in the path of all the streetlights and parking meters, dodging and twirling around each one, holding an imaginary football and coaching himself out loud, "this CAMP is not a CUPCAKE!" (He's going to football camp in June, after school lets out.) His sense of humor really reminds me of Yancey.
