High Water - 5 miles (586 total)

5.57 miles
44:06
7:53 pace

Started my 5 mile routine today. Since I take a slightly different route back, and stop about half a mile from the office in order to pick up lunch, I may have to experiment with the route to bring it a little closer to 5 even. I took a bit more direct route than usual to drop to the rec path at Market Street, and turned around at 3 miles, at the far end of the Art Museum parking lot. Monday I think I'll turn around at the same place, but drop to the path at Chestnut Street instead. I think that will cut about .3 miles off the total.

After the heavy rains the past couple of days, the river was higher than I've ever seen it. One section of the path was completely underwater, and lots of trees and streetlights were standing in the river. There was a constant strean of large branches, logs and a couple of fallen trees floating downstream. I saw two footballs.

Legs were painful. Hope two days off is enough to do four or five days in a row next week.

Saw some pictures of flooding on the upper Mississippi last night and it was incredible. Whole houses were being washed away. Really sad.
