Change of Pace - 10.5 miles (374 total)

10.53 miles
1:27:08
8:16 pace

Was feeling a bit tired this morning in general, although aches and pains were at a minimum after taking two days off. The main reason for the extra day off was my right foot, but that did not bother me at all today.

Left from work and took the river path out 5.25, then back to 38th and Spruce via Market Street. Noticed a lot of guys my age and older out this morning - more than I remember seeing. I wonder if these are the guys who I will see running through the winter.

Ate a big dense slice of homemade whole wheat bread with peanut butter before the run, which is heavier than my usual banana, and tanked up on water before leaving the office. I think this made it a little harder to breath and slowed me down a bit; I never got a good pace going. It is hard to believe that this would have been a fast pace a couple of months ago.

I always had problems with side aches whenever I'd eat anything before a run. Of course, my runs were shorter and a little faster pace.

Dad, I like your photo. A banana or two 30 minutes to an hour before a long run seems to work pretty well for me.

I'm thinking about going to a different schedule where I'm running 4 or 5 days a week, but with more varied distances and paces. My friend Tony, a veteran of many marathons, suggested Hal Higdon's Marathon Training Guide.
